In my Book of Mormon class this week, we read Helaman 10-16. Throughout those chapters, it talks about Nephi and how people had such a hard time following him and heeding unto the words of their prophet.
It really opens my eyes to how similar our world is today, and how often society struggles to trust in our prophet. People are under a strong impression that following the prophet and living the gospel will take away their freedom. They don't want to have to obey anyone. They think the church will limit what they can and can't do. People in today's world also struggle with having the faith that the prophets and apostles really are called of God.
I am here to tell you - our prophets are called of God. They are God's servants and messengers. They are God's voice on this earth. Whatever God needs us to hear, He tells us through prophets and apostles that teach and guide us.
There is so much proof and evidence out there about the many blessings of prophets. The website lds.org is such an amazing tool to learn about these servants of God. As I was looking for a video or article to share about prophets, there were way too many to choose from. But I decided to share a talk from President Gordon B. Hinckley clear back from 1973, before he was even called as the prophet. I love President Hinckley and his words are just as powerful back then as they were when he served as our beloved prophet.

I know that prophets truly are inspired leaders of our church. They teach, guide, comfort, and motivate me to be the best that I can possible be. They are there to help us, and to deliver God's messages to us. I am grateful for them and all they do for this gospel. I hope that the rest of the world will soon be able to understand the importance of God's servants, and come unto Him.
